WDSD New York 2020
March 20, 2020

Down Syndrome International (DSi) will be returning to the United Nations headquarters in New York for the World Down Syndrome Day Conference 2020.
Please note that the date of the event is likely to be Friday 20 March due to WDSD falling on a Saturday.
“We decide”
The theme for the 2020 conference is “We Decide” – ensuring full participation of people with Down syndrome through accessible information and communication, good support and inclusive consultation.
The overall aims of the event will be to:
- Show how effective and meaningful participation of persons with Down syndrome can be achieved via accessible information and communication, good support and inclusive consultation;
- Empower persons with Down syndrome, those supporting them and their representative organisations, to advocate for effective and meaningful participation; and
- Reach out to key stakeholders, including education, health and social care professionals, employers, community and public bodies, the wider disability movement, media and the wider community to disseminate this message and bring about change.
Participation will comprise a mix of persons with Down syndrome, supporters and advocates, government and UN officials, NGO representatives and others with professional experience and acknowledged experts in the field. Efforts will be made to invite participants from a diverse range of countries and world regions.
